Newman News Term 3 Week 2: From the Deputy Principal Wellbeing Secondary
Welcome to Term 3. It is great to see our staff and students return after a well-deserved break. I look forward to a successful term for our students and hope they enjoy the experiences on offer in the coming weeks.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Parent Teacher interviews took place on Tuesday 21 July and Thursday 30 July (Year 7 families only) and offered a great opportunity for conversations and feedback to take place in person. Thank you to the staff for making themselves available on these evenings and to students and parents for taking the time to come in.
Year 12 Human Biology Visit the BioDiscovery Centre
The Year 12 Human Biology classes enjoyed visiting the BioDiscovery Centre at the Harry Perkins Institute this week to further their knowledge about genetic mutations and how mutations can be found and fixed. Click here to read more and see more photos from the sessions.
Wellbeing Week
In Week 4, I am very excited to announce that Newman College will be holding its first Wellbeing Week that takes place from PK – Y12. Students and staff have been very busy organising activities, events and opportunities for everyone to take part in. Our aim is to come together as a Marist Community and promote a positive image of Wellbeing.
Each day there will be notices on SEQTA advising students of what is available for them to take part in. I would like to thank the staff and students involved in making this week possible for our community.
Year 10 Immunisations
In Term 1, all Year 10 students were given a School Based Immunisation Program envelope offering parents the opportunity to have their child vaccinated against Meningococcal ACWY. If you have not yet returned your form, could you please do so. The form needs to be completed giving consent or non-consent. Forms need to be returned to Student Administration.
The immunisation day is scheduled for Wednesday 5 August. Students can wear Sports Uniform on this day.
