Assessment Guidelines

Assessment is a crucial component of the learning process, offering students, parents/guardians, and teachers insights into academic progress and furnishing feedback to shape future learning endeavours. Assessment procedures must uphold principles of fairness, reliability, validity, and transparency. Newman College is dedicated to an assessment process aligned with our Vision for Learning and Learning Cycle. Students are encouraged to actively participate in diverse assessments that align with the curriculum, presenting valuable opportunities for constructive feedback and feedforward.

Parents/guardians are reminded that, in the event of student illness, it is mandatory to submit a medical certificate to the College absentee email address (absenteesecondary@newman.wa.edu.au) on the day of the absence. Failure to provide this documentation of illness may result in the student receiving a mark of 0 for the missed assessment. Additional information on our assessment policies is available through the links provided below.

Community Mass

Each Thursday morning at 8.10am, the College celebrates the Eucharist in the Champagnat Chapel. The liturgy is organised and run by students across Primary and Secondary and are a beautiful opportunity to come together to as a school community to pray and celebrate together.

Students, staff, families, alumni and friends are most welcome to join us for these special Community Masses.
